I completed my internship with Megan Dye, Associate Athletic Director for Alumni/Annual Giving/Marketing at the University of North Alabama. The office is located in Self Field House.
INTERNSHIP
I completed my internship with Megan Dye, Associate Athletic Director for Alumni/Annual Giving/Marketing, at the University of North Alabama. My major internship project was planning and implementation of marketing and social media initiatives for UNA Athletics. My duties also consisted of event preparation as well as assisting with day-to-day operations of Mrs. Dye’s office.
My duties and experiences during my internship varied greatly. I believe that the internship helped prepare me for the workforce. I have learned skills and responsibilities that will I will carry with me beyond my internship.
SET-UP & EVENT PREP
I assisted with a variety of set-up and event prep tasks. I worked in the office on mailers,
put out game day signs, rolled t-shirts, and helped catch balls at the Lion Cup Beach Volleyball Tournament. Additionally, I went out and invited first responders in the Shoals area to the UNA Softball First Responders Day, I created a list of in-between inning games for baseball games, and I snapped pictures of UNA athletes at the “Light the Fountain” event. I helped set-up for the spring football game and assisted during and after the event.
I attended all home basketball games for UNA Men’s and Women’s teams. At the games I set up the fog machines for the players to run through for the run-through as their names were called out. I picked out fans for the Free Throw Contest during the games. I also drew tickets from a bucket for the students to participate in the “Half Court Shootout Challenge” at halftime of games. I attended home tennis matches to post stories as well as home baseball games.
GRAPHICS
I was directly in charge of creating and posting graphics for Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Baseball. Game Day posts were scheduled on our social media and following each game/match, I posted the score on a graphic along with a caption giving some details of the game and when they play next. For home games/matches, I also made posts before and during them. I posted the baseball starting pitchers on our Instagram and Facebook stories as well as game action shots.
I also created and posted about special events such as: Little Lions Night, International Students Night, UNA Pink Game, Delmar at half-time, Light the Fountain, Tip of the Cap, and Black Out.
I also went to the several basketball and tennis practices and posted on our Instagram and Facebook stories trying to hype our teams in hopes that our student body would come out and support them.

BIZZBUZZ DIGITAL
BizBuzz Digital is the marketing management software that UNA Athletics uses to plan and post to all social media channels from one place. We are able to publish content to multiple social sites with the push of a button. I used it to schedule and post different graphics each day.
BOX OUT SPORTS
Box Out Sports is a sports graphics platform for ready-made templates, infographic design, and custom integrations. I used it to help create live score updates during games and create posts for UNA Athletics social media accounts.
